On hearing that they will open for their heroes Dirty Pretty Things, the band declares that “this is by far the best thing that’s ever happened to us!” Not bad going for a band that formed less than two years ago and have already toured the country to a very warm response from both fans and industry moguls alike. Their distinctly lo-fi indie sounds have become some what of a talking point in the city thanks to their trusty drum machine (christened Mustafa Beat) bringing a memorable trademark to their live shows. Ibiza, an island famously targeted as the dance capital of Europe is clearly now playing host to rock events too. Singer Martin says it’s a positive direction to go in: “It’s a chance to perform to a different audience and a sign of the times that those clubbers are buying and listening to more indie guitar music. It’s something we should embrace.” The Answering Machine will perform in Ibiza on August 21st.
