Legendary rockers The Who will take to the stage to headline the inaugural Knowsley Hall Music Festival this June. The band, playing their only festival gig outside Glastonbury, are topping the bill for the two day festival to be held in the parkland of the Earls of Derby ancestral home. The Who will headline on Saturday, 23 June with Keane headlining the second day on Sunday, 24 June. Other confirmed acts include The Coral, The Zutons, The View, and Pete Wylie. The festival has been developed by Cream, the organisers of Creamfields held in nearby Daresbury, and production team Rockness. Musical heritage | | The Zutons |
James Barton, CEO of Cream, says the event is the next step in the development of the Cream brand in Liverpool, "This city has an amazing musical heritage and I know how important it is to the people of Liverpool that tradition is preserved especially as we move ever closer to The Capital Of Culture year. "Building on the success that Cream and Creamfields has achieved I am proud to announce this new show and hope that the people of Liverpool will show their support and enjoy what we know will be a great weekend of music." The Knowsley estate has been in the ownership of the Stanley Family since 1385. The estate includes Knowsley Home Farm and a large area of park and woodland. 80,000 people are expected to attend the event over two days. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday 12 February.
