Coral headline charity gig

A Christmas charity gig at Liverpool’s Carling Academy on December 16 will include sets from most of the Deltasonic artists including The Coral, Candie Payne and The Dead 60s - many sharing the bill for the first time ever.

It's the kind of line-up that music fans dream about. On December 16, gig-goers will be treated to special charity performances from The Coral, Candie Payne, The Dead 60s, The Little Flames, The Basement, The Suzukis and The Tigerpicks.

The Coral
The Coral: only official show of 2006.

This will be The Coral’s only official show of 2006 and also The Dead 60's first home town show in a year. The night will be compered by BBC Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray. All artists performing will be offering their services for free and all ticket proceeds from the night will be donated to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Tickets are priced at £20 to see The Coral, The Dead 60s, The Little Flames, The Suzukis and The Tigerpicks in the Academy 1 from 7pm-12am and £25 for tickets to the main event plus the aftershow at Academy 2. The aftershow will run from 12am-4am and will feature performances from Candie Payne, The Basement and special guests, as well as Deltasonic DJs.

Dead 60s: performing for charity.

Deltasonic is a record label based in Liverpool and was formed in 2000 by Alan Wills, the former drummer with Liverpool bands Shack and Top. In the years since, it has become home to some of Liverpool's best-known exports.

Dave Monks, presenter of Radio Merseyside’s Sunday night rock show The Pool spoke to Deltasonic artist Candie Payne about her music and the charity event:

On 16 December you have charity party with everyone except The Zutons appearing?

Candie Payne: Yes, they’ll be finishing their tour and they’ll be exhausted but I’m sure they’ll be there to show their support. It’s for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and tickets are £20. There’s no guest list whatsoever. We all have to buy our tickets! It looks like it’s going to be an amazing night. We’ve never all played together before. So it’s going to be fantastic.
