Eclectica is an exciting up-and-coming summer music festival taking place in St. Helens, Merseyside, on Sunday 13 August 2006. The open-air Eclectica ’06 event features a mix of festival favourites and new talent, a diverse combination of music genres from rock and reggae to folk and roots. The good news is that it's all free! Headlining the festival are legendary festival heavyweights Michael Franti and Spearhead providing a unique mix of funk, soul, roots and reggae. Meanwhile, Oysterband’s fusion of punk and English folk music is guaranteed to get the crowd dancing and singing. Liverpool’s singer/songwriter Ian McNabb, the former lead singer of the Icicle Works who now enjoys a cult following in his own right, is equally sure to show the crowd a good time, playing a combination of acoustic and electric tunes. As well as featuring renowned and established global acts, Eclectica will also show off some of the finest young local musical talent. Having impressed crowds at Glastonbury and Croperdy last year, Tiny Tin Lady will be playing their brand of roots and pop music. Tiny Tin Lady consists of Danni Gibbons, her younger sister Beth and Helen Holmes. Danni is singer/songwriter and guitarist for Tiny Tin Lady, Beth is a vocalist and Helen plays bass. Formed in 2004, Tiny Tin Lady have already gained a following after considerable festival success. Tiny Tin Lady recently dropped in to BBC Radio Merseyside to talk to Billy Butler and perform live: Last but not least, The Loungs are a talented up-and-coming indie/pop band, whose pedigree is reflected in the fact that they are currently down to the final 14 acts in the Road to V competition. The local lads are equally sure to put on a memorable performance for their hometown. Gary Maddock, Tourism Development Manager at St. Helens Council said: "The Eclectica music festival is designed with real music fans in mind. The line-up this year is strong and varied, ensuring there will be something for everyone to enjoy on the day." Eclectica Music Festival takes place on Sunday 13th August 2006 between 1pm - 9pm at Victoria Square (outside the Town Hall) in St. Helens. The event is FREE. |
