The Kaiser Chief’s hit single ‘I Predict A Riot’ has been given a new treatment by a Warrington choir. The all female Cheshire Chord Company decided to record their own version of ‘I Predict A Riot’ on the suggestion of one of the group’s roadies, whose mother is a member of the choir. The close harmony barbershop style treatment of The Kaiser Chiefs song has been featured on the bands website and played extensively on Radio One. | | They predict a riot |
Paula McEwan son was chatting with the Kaiser Chiefs about the idea “It started when they were sat round chatting and the Kaiser Chiefs said ‘Wouldn’t be great to have a gospel chorus backing us?’. So my son said ‘My mum sings with a great chorus I could put the word out’, and it just snowballed from there.” “The manager rang me up and said could we get in touch with the possibility of recording for Christmas.” Musical director Denise Lyons was amazed when she got a call from the Kaiser Chiefs “It was quite a challenge, but the Kaiser Chiefs actually asked us if we could do it, and we’re always up for a challenge. “The Kaiser Chiefs use a lot of harmony within their singing and vocal style. Their style of singing and music lends itself to choral work. I had been thinking of it but was pushed in to it by the phone call.” | | Give it some! |
