Chris Jackson

Hello! I'm Chris Jackson and since Inside Out began back in 2002 I’ve been bringing you stories from the heart of the North East & Cumbria and there’s still no end in sight to the number of rogues to chase or fascinating people to meet.

Every story we tell on Inside Out is so very different, sometimes heart-warming, sometimes shocking and best of all some of our stories are suggested by you.

You can't say I lead an ordinary life... in the last series alone I got down and dirty with rat catchers in Middlesbrough, tracked down dodgy builders across the North East, got into the rhythm with Nobby Solano and his Newcastle salsa band and met the reluctant hero – the driver of the Cumbria rail crash.

Not keen to confess his sins!

Perhaps the most fun was confronting a rogue solicitor on Teesside who despite his Christian pedigree was reluctant confess his sins. The picture says it all!

If you think someone is up to no good then we're always glad to shine the spotlight on them.

Some people don’t realise that as well as presenting the show I also produce some of our films.

It’s great to be behind the camera as well as in front. We certainly have fun when we invite guest reporters to tell a story close to their heart.

Working with Roy Hudd

It was a joy to have Roy Hudd explore the Geordie roots of the music hall sensation “Champagne Charlie”.

Wendy Craig who famously was a hopeless cook in the sitcom “Butterflies” perfected her culinary skills when telling the story of Wearside's most under-rated glassware: Pyrex!

And Redcar comedian Patrick Monaghan got a taste for Teesside's unique delicacy, the Parmo.

As for what's coming up in our current series?

Well I have to keep the details under wraps. After all I don't want to ruin the surprise.

People often tell me that what they love about Inside Out is that you never quite know what will be on the show each week – but whatever it is, you're guaranteed to learn something new about what's happening in our part of the world.

It’s that same fascination that gives the Inside Out team a buzz – we never know what subject we'll be doing next or what fascinating people we're going to meet.

People always wonder about your vital statistics... so here are mine.

Chris: RTS Presenter of the Year 2007

I was born in the North East. I moved to Germany aged 5 – hence no Geordie accent.

After getting a German degree I trained as a journalist and started off in radio in the Midlands and Wales.

I came back to my native North East in 1986 when I joined BBC Radio Newcastle as the "Northumberland Producer" based in Alnwick.

I moved around a bit at the Beeb before joining Look North as a reporter and then a presenter. When Inside Out started I managed to get the job as the front man and I've been here ever since!
