Final rehearsals have taken place and the stage set has been packed up and shipped out to Australia. BackgroundArchbishop Thurstan School are making the trip after coming first in the northern section of the Rock Challenge contest. Rock Challenge is global performing arts event that encourages children to perform material with an anti-drink and drugs message. After their success the school decided to take the show to Australia; the birthplace of the project. Ninety pupils and staff will be jetting out in July to perform in Sydney. One of the teachers, Hayley Buchan, says that the whole school is looking forward to the trip.
“Winning rock challenge meant every thing to every body and when told that we were going to Australia everyone was really excited and we can’t wait to get there.” The whole school is now busy fundraising, with a target of £128,000. |
