My mother always told about her "founding day" the 13th December 1944. This was the day she was found as a baby in the Rink Cinema, Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London.

An inspector from Holloway Police Station took her from the cinema to a childrens home.

They believed she was approximately 2 weeks old at the time and my mother believed she was left in a warm place by a mother who loved her but who could no longer look after her.

A Cary Grant film was playing at the cinema that day hence on the birth certificate she was given the surname of grant was given.

For my mother her war story is a sad one for which she has never found any answers for.
