With immigration a hot potato in the news (and likely to remain so) let's see how Hollywood handled the issue back in 1988 with "Alien Nation". Now available on DVD, this sci-fi flick explored with limited success the premise of immigrant aliens from outer space working and living among us.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Some scenes look a little soft, but otherwise Fox have done a good job transferring this film to disc.
Sound The original stereo track has been upgraded to a 4.1 mix that deploys some good spatial effects to enhance action scenes.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Featurettes There are two short featurettes on this DVD. One of them consists of three minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, while the other is a typical original release promotional pitch. In it we learn that director, Graham Baker, is trying "not to make an alien movie, but a street movie". He was clearly at odds with Fox's promotional department then because all their work seemed to be angled at making it look like it had something to do with the "Alien" movies.
Additional Extra Features Also on the disc are three TV spots and a trailer.
Region: 2
Chapters: 16
Ratio: 2.35:1 (anamorphic)
Sound: Dolby Digital 4.1
Technical Features: Scene selection, multiple language subtitles, and English captions for the Hearing Impaired
