Be a BBC Blast reporter

Do you love music and the visual arts? Or are you more of a sporting nut? Could you tell the rest of the world about your passion? Ever thought that you could actually turn your hobby into a career?

Yes? An exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside our local BBC websites. There are two different schemes running, one for the arts and one for sports.

Calling arts reporters

The Blast logo

This summer the BBC is looking for reporters to report on some of the best gigs and events around.

You'll be expected to cover everything from Hip-Hop through Bhangra to Ballet - and then get creative by writing reports, taking photos and even making videos about what you have attended.

If you'd love to have the opportunity to share your thoughts, experiences and arts knowledge with our audiences, then Blast is for you!

You will need a proven interest in the arts, be involved in them at your school/college or community and have a vision to turn your ideas into content for the web.

Calling sport reporters

You'll have the opportunity to record and write your own reports (don't worry, we'll help you!), see how radio programmes and web pages are put together as well as gaining great experience to put on your CV.

You will need a proven interest in general sport and be involved in sports in your school/college or community, have the drive to succeed in your chosen sport and the creativity to turn your ideas into content for radio and the web.

Apply now!

So if you're got some spare time this summer and fancy adding 'BBC Blast Reporter' to your list of achievements, then further information is available via the link below. You don't need to be a budding journalist, you just need passion for the arts or sport and want to share it!

This is a flexible placement over an eight-week period, working two days a week. This programme has been specifically designed for applicants from 18-19 age range in order to meet the learning requirements of that group. Due to Health & Safety considerations, the placement targets applicants aged 18 and over.
