Pudsey gives Cornish fundraisers the 'thumbs up'

Children In Need In Cornwall

People from all over Cornwall helped to raise several thousand pounds for the BBC Children In Need Appeal 2006. Events included BBC Radio Cornwall's Winter Fete on Lemon Quay in Truro. See our photo galleries.

Once again Cornish people dug deep into their pockets to donate generously to the BBC's Children In Need Appeal 2006.

As of Monday 20 November 2006 the South West total was £284,000, with more money coming in all the time.

One of the main events in Cornwall was organised by BBC Radio Cornwall. The radio station's Winter Fete took place on Lemon Quay in Truro, giving listeners the chance to donate, and purchase thousands of books. Almost £2000 was raised from that event alone.

When the Winter Fete money is added to the pledges the radio station received, and the Laz'll Fix It's, BBC Radio Cornwall listeners raised more than £10,000.

On Pudsey's Big Night Duncan Warren presented his evening show from the Eden Project. Pudsey, CBBC's Simon Grant and many more were on hand to take part in the many events in the famous biomes. Several Cornish fundraisers turned up to hand in their cheques for the appeal.

Groups of all ages raised money for the BBC's Children In Need Appeal. Here's a list of just a few of them. Thank you for all your efforts!

Porthleven School held a 'creative day' where pupils and staff wore something slightly different for the day. Some wore home made hair bands, and decorated glasses. They raised £323.

St Michael's Church Of England Primary School raised £380 for Children In Need. They staged a popular non-uniform day, which saw the infants holding a pyjama party.

Stratton Primary School had a busy time on Children In Need day. They are still counting the money, but so far it stands at: £136.44. The children (and staff) paid 50p each to bring their teddies to school. The children kept busy by cutting out pictures of Pudsey and covered them with coppers.

And those are just some of the many events held.
