What is a Guinness World Record?
Guinness World Records celebrate record-breaking achievements. The first Guinness World Records (GWR) book was published on 27 August 1955 and the idea of it first came about because of an argument over what the fastest game bird was.
As of 2026, there has been over 53,000 records achieved and it can be anything from the smallest country (by population) to qualify for a major international football tournament to the largest football in the world!
