This is Finn and this is my take on what happened in the DG this week.

How have you faced your fears?

My DG replies: Aaisha786: I am also so terrified of bugs and spiders and can\u2019t get over it! You are so brave! I also really don\u2019t like heights but I faced my fear and went on a really tall ride! In the end, I loved it because I got such a great view of the whole theme park! I also hate the dark and being in a quiet room on my own. Finn: Go you, Aaisha786! I\u2019m very proud of you for facing up to your fear. Lots of people are scared of theme park rides so you did two brave things at once, wow. You\u2019ll be able to do loads of cool stuff like that now. I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll face your bug fear one day too, then you\u2019ll realise they\u2019re not as scary as you think. Just make lots of noise or think about the times you\u2019ve faced your other fears when you\u2019re in the dark or quiet, it\u2019ll give you something happy to think about and forget about being scared.
My DG replies: MintSmilingBadger: Hey Finn, one day i held a centipede, stick insect, caterpillar. i was nervous before i held them but they just tickled. i then came over my fear. Finn: Wow MintSmilingBadger! That\u2019s so cool. All those creepy crawlies with lots of legs and you just did it. Amazing. It sounds like lots of people have fears of bugs so hopefully they can see your story and be inspired.
My DG replies: zizzi824: Safah: Dear Finn, I too have a fear of spiders and I think that this particular fear is ridiculous. Also, I have a fear of balloons a mirrors (which is also weird.) But, I need some advice. How do I overcome these fears (heights, balloons, spiders, clowns and mirrors?) Finn: Hi Safah. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s ridiculous, Steve creeped me out sooo much. I do believe in you though, I know you can overcome your fears just like I did. I\u2019m no expert, but I think you should just face your fears \u2013 stand somewhere high up until you realise it\u2019s not so bad, blow up balloons and let them whizz around the room (that\u2019s so fun to do that they can\u2019t possibly be scary anymore), stand near a spider and realise how much bigger you are than them, pull funny faces at the next clown you see and look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how great you are. You\u2019ve got this.
My DG replies: zizzi824: U17895724: Hi Finn, I face my fears by being brave and understanding how to be stronger than them. When I am scared of something, I like to imagine I am my own superhero and every fear is washed away. I am scared of spiders too but I think that what you did was very brave and I will certainly take Sasha's advice and yours to heart. All we have to do is believe in ourselves and we will be able to do anything! Finn: That\u2019s a really cool idea, U17895724. I might start imagining that I\u2019m a superhero too. I wonder what my superhero name would be? You can totally do anything you want to when you face your fears \u2013 good luck!
My DG replies: zizzi824: U18129308: I haven\u2019t faced my fears. Well... not that I can remember. But my friend was always afraid of dogs so I took her through some training like Sasha did with you and now she has a dog of her own Finn: It sounds like you know how to overcome a fear if you ever need to, U18129308. I bet your friend is really grateful to you \u2013 you sound like a good friend. I hope they named the dog in your honour and you get to play with it lots.
My DG replies: zizzi824: U18131781: Dear Finn I have a really bad fear of bugs creepy crawlies and any thing that looks gross which is really annoying sometimes because if I see just like idk a little lady bird or something I'll freak out which is embarrassing in front of my friends. Finn: Hi U18131781! Aww I think ladybirds are pretty cute. Some creepy crawlies can be very creepy though. What I\u2019ve learnt from dealing with Steve is that you are bigger than all of them \u2013 they\u2019re probably more scared of you than you are of them! They can\u2019t hurt you, so just try to stay calm and soon you\u2019ll forget you\u2019re scared of them I bet.
My DG replies: zizzi824: Dear Finn, I'm scared of the dark and mostly being alone in the dark. That's not it though. I can go in the dark only if I have others with me or possibly have walkie-talkies. It's quite hard to not be scared of being alone in the dark although I am working on it. Hope you have faced your fears as well! Finn: Hello zizzi824. That sounds reasonable \u2013 I hate when I have to go in to the attic by myself, even before Steve the spider was there! It can be so creepy. Have you tried talking or singing out loud or playing some music? I find it makes it less scary and feels like you\u2019re not alone.
