Prototyping: The Programme List

In the Research & Development Prototyping team we have been exploring how people find out about, and remember, radio (and TV) programmes. There's more and more to listen to these days and we often hear about new programmes through friends, trails, adverts or reviews. But do we remember to listen to them? And how easy is it to find something we half remember?

So we have developed The Programme List - a prototype to help you quickly make a list of programmes when you hear about them and then easily find them again later. It supports all national BBC radio channels and is open to anyone with a Twitter account (and a love of lists). It is designed to work on smartphones, which you might have with you when you hear about a programme, and computers, where you might listen to programmes.

You can read more about what it does in our blog post but we are really interested in knowing how you remember radio programmes and whether you would use something like this. Please try it out and let us know what you think; either here, @programmelist or email. We will use the results to inform the future developments of features like this in sites like iPlayer and BBC Radio.

Tristan Ferne is senior development producer, Prototyping, BBC R&D

Read The Programme List and leave a comment on the R&D blog

Try out The Programme List
