HOMEWORK №7

Hi Diarmuid!

Nice to meet you too! It's always interesting to work with different teachers; you're used to none of them! I mean, their style.

Well, I'll try to manage the homework, which seams to me quite difficult, but exciting!

Here it is!

1.	cast your net wide
A: When you're looking for something, do it everywhere!

2.	take the bait
A: Reach your goal by tempting someone with something interesting for him.

3. fishing for a compliment
A: I haven't heard it before and I have no idea what does it mean.

4. there are plenty more fish in the sea
A: There are many other opportunities and people, except definite one.

5. a big fish in a small pond
A: For example, each local official thinks that he is a god in his aria.

6. like a fish out of water
A: To be in essential need of something.

7. drink like a fish
A:I guess, to drink a lot!

8. a different kettle of fish
A:Can't imagine, what it means!

9. a cold fish
A: unfriendly, close person

10. a fisherman's tale
A:I hear them every time when we meet with my husband's friends! Extremely exaggerated stories about something, generally about size of a fish, which some fisherman caught.

That's all! I'm looking for your explanation of these idioms, which I couldn't manage!

Best wishes,

Up in the sky

Hello everybody!

At the end of this week I'm going to visit Spain. And I'm very exciting of it! I'm sure it'll be a great adventure! I suppose to cross the whole country! I expect to fall in love with it! But firstly, the flight from Sofia to Madrid is in store for me! The truth is that I adore flying!

Every time up in the sky, I feel like I'm in heaven! There is a different life! May be it's because of overcoming gravity, but something changes in me and my body trembles with ecstasy. The Earth seems clearly visible, you see those squares in different green, brown and blue colors and don't think of kilometers' distance. It seems like a map, look!

And then the aircraft ascends and next moment you find yourself in the clouds! Few seconds more and you're already above them and only the white sun shines in front of you!

I'm always amazed of inconceivable views of the sky and clouds. Each time they appear in incredible form and density.

But not long ago I heard another viewpoint of flying. One of my friends told me that he doesn't like flying, because usually you waste a lot of time at airports, sitting in the aircraft always next to the fat guy and always having kids in the back which start crying during take off. In his opinion the flight itself is rather boring. Especially when you're flying like from Frankfurt to Singapore where the flight takes about 13 hours. The only thing he likes about flying is that it brings you to nice destinations.

As for me, I don't take notice to all this discomfort. I just pass by all controls and can't wait to get in the plane and take off! My mind is concentrated on this amazing feeling of freedom up there!

What about your experience? Do you like flying?

Friendly greetings,

Fishing in Bulgaria

Hi dear friends!

In my last article I told you about my family hobbies. But I wrote nothing about the hobby of my husband. That's why today I'd want to draw special attention to it.

Yesterday, on June 27, was International day of fishing. Congratulations to all members of the club! And especially, to my husband!

His name is Krasimir and he's a fisherman. He works in fishing tackle's store and as I like to say, his profession is his passion. He knows everything about fishing. The rules, different kinds of fish and fly, the best time and pleases for successful fishing in Bulgaria and etc.

For example, in Bulgaria each fisherman must have a license for fishing. It's made in 10 minutes. And it's really cheap, 2 euro for 2 weeks.

From April 15 to June 1 the fishing is prohibited, because of spawning season. The best time for summer fishing in the lakes is from June to November, for see fishing from September 15 to November 15, and for winter fishing on January and February.

Exept the Black see, there are many lakes (reservoirs) in Bulgaria, where you can find more than 20 tipes of fish, such as roach, chub, bleak, bream, carp, pike, perch and others. But the most interesting is trout. It is found in the alpine lakes. There you have the opportunity not only to fish, but also enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding nature! For example, in the Rhodope Mountains there are two magnificent places, Batak and Dospat Reservoirs. Look, how incredible they are!

Batak Reservoir, Bulgaria

Dospat Reservoir, Bulgaria

Each fisherman can take with him only 3 kg of fish, caught per day. It he catches a big fish, more than 3 kg weight, he also can take it home. The luckiest fisherman has opportunity to catch fish up to 50 kg!

Usually, I go with my husband. But the truth is that my interests are swimming and bathing in the sun! And of course, taking pictures of the process.

The first step is to prepare the baits.

Then there are the hours of waiting in the silence.

And at the end is a happy catch!

Mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio)

That's all for today! Successful fishing!

Friendly greetings,

Our hobbies

Hi everybody!

Today I'm going to write about hobbies in our life. And also I want you to meet with my family. Well, it consists of my mam, dad and my sister. Also we have one special member. It's my sweetie cat, a favorite of whole family!

As they say, real man has to plant a tree, build a house and bring up a son. It's exactly about my dad. But he's got two beautiful daughters instead of one son. Don't you think that it's a quite equal? My dad thinks it's much better! By the way, my father's name is Vesiliy. As for houses, daddy is an inborn engineer. As of today he's already finished building of two houses.

Now he devotes himself to the third one, which is not fare away from Moscow, where my family supposes to live the whole year round. On fresh air among the trees!

My dad plans to plant an apple-tree garden there. It'd be incredible in the early spring, when the apple-trees will bloom with this delicate white flowers. And what a scent!!!

And my mom, her name is Olga, is keen of gardening too. Actually, she grows various flowers in the country, where my father build the house. Now they move to the new place and just imagine what work my mom and my father have to do to remove all these plants from one garden to another. Huge! Honestly, I'm afraid to think about it! Guess which is my mom's favorite flower? Of course, it's rose!

My sister Ekaterina will be a big star! No doubt! She is a singer. Firstly it was her hobby. We both had been singing in the music school choir. But after we were graduated, she continued singing. She joined to a music band. Not long ago she began writing her own songs. She regularly upgrades her skills and knowledge, taking vocal classes, dj's courses, playing piano and guitar and etc. I'm really proud of her! And not only me, all of our family!

Also we have the least family member. It's a cat. His name is Masiania. And it's a boy. We took him from a street when he was a kitten.

Now it's our big love! The sweetie has one interesting hobby. He likes to chase my mom and bite her a little bit! You just need to see this funny picture, when she runs through the apartment and calls for help and he follows her with shining eyes! On other time he's really sweet! Look!

That's all for today!

PS: And what about your hobbies? Please, share it this us!

Friendly greetings,

24th of June

On June 24 Christian and Catholic Churches feast the birthday of Saint John the Baptist. Also today is a summer solstice. The sun has a magical reviving power. They say, it rises earlier, stays in the sky longer and as from that day begins to die. That's way in many countries people celebrate this day as an ancient pagan holiday. In Russia we call it «Kupala day», in honor of ancient pagan god of midsummer. And in Bulgaria the name of this day is «Enyovden». It bears the name of Enyov, which means Ivan or John. As you know, Bulgaria and Russia are both Slavic countries, that's why we have quite similar traditions, connected with this day.

All customs connect with water, herbs and fire. And all divinations are about marriage, health, wealth and fertility. But there is an interesting difference between Russian and Bulgarian ceremonies.

According to custom, on this day is the rule to tell fortunes by the water. Russian young girls make wreaths, light a splinter and put them in a river or in a lake. If the wreath sinks immediately, it means that the beloved boy will fall out of love and won't get married with the girl, which this wreath belongs to. Who's wreath sails farther, that girl will be the happiest, and who's splinter is alight longer, that girl will live a full long life. In Bulgaria they have the same custom. But there is one difference. Bulgarians believe that the water on this day is healing. And it's good to drink it and swim today. Whereas Russians think that it's dangerous to swim because of Neptune, who doesn't like guests and can put them in his kingdom in the bottom. In over words, people can drown.

Other custom connects with herbs. Today people pick up herbs and then dry them up. During a year they are used for health if someone is ill. In Russia there is one mystical ceremony. They say, that only in Kupala's night a fern flowers. And if some lucky person will find it, the fern will show the way to the treasure, no matter how deep it's buried under the ground. In Bulgarian culture instead of fern, a blue light shoots up from the ground and shows the way to the treasure. It's a quite funny, but statistics shows that after this night the fertility increases.

As for fire, people say it has a purifying power. I haven't hurt anything about it in Bulgarian customs. But Russian people usually light the fires when it gets dark and jump over it.

Also we have one game, which name is «gorelki». Girls and boys stay in couples and form a column. The host stays in front of the column. Last couple runs along the column, one of them on the right side and other on the left side. If host marks someone of them with coal stick, the host and this marked person form a couple. And the other person becomes a host. If the host couldn't mark anyone, the couple stays in the beginning of the column. And the game is going on.

At the end of the day people just have fun, dancing and singing national songs. Both in Bulgaria and in Russia!

As you see, there are lot's of similar traditions, which means that we were really close in the past. And I think that we have to try to be closer in the future!

PS: What about your country? Have you got any holiday on 24th of June?

Friendly greetings,

Hi Nuala!

As Britney Spears sings, you did it again! You're right about Possessive case in Russian. We haven't got it in this form (s and apostrophe). But there is Genitive case in Russian, which corresponds with Possessive case in English. And we use an adjective before noun. Unfortunately, they seldom coincide.
About the second part of my homework. Honestly, I always checked it before put it on the site. And if there were any mistakes, I just couldn't see them. I think I need more reading and then my eyes will accustomed to notice more of them. Anyway, I'll try!

And now I'm going to answer on your other questions.

It's a kitchen of event!

Here I mean that the second step of preparation is like a factory, where all ins and outs of event are defined. I think it's my mistake, because we have such an expression in Russian. When we say kitchen of something, it means an internal specificity of something.

When I wrote inflammatory disco music, I ment stirring / rousing disco tune.

That's all I think! Thanks!

Best wishes,

Great events

Hi everybody!

In my introduction I promised you to tell about my profession. I afford to remind you, that during last five years I have been working in the event management environment. Actually, I've got economic degree. And after the graduation, I have been working as an economist and accountant for two years. As my director said, I was a promising financial specialist. But one day everything has changed in my life!

Remembering the time after my graduation, I could say I was really ambitious young girl and dreamt about my own office with leather chair. I had all opportunity for this. I graduated with honors as financial manager. My director was satisfied with my results. I was interested in this sphere and of course I knew about huge financial potential of this occupation.

It was on the eve of the New Year 2005. The secretary of our company quit. And I offered my services to provide everything necessary to the New Year party for my colleagues. Guess! Nobody was dissenting! The party went off well! Everybody was pleased! As for me, something changed! I couldn't think about bills, invoices and other things like that. I'd realized, that it was really boring, without action. I had been dreaming to work as an event manager! I felt, it was my destiny! Without a second thought, I started looking for this kind of job.

My first interview was the last one! But here I'm going to tell you about a quite funny incident! On the interview I filled in a test, which should show my personal skills and abilities in event management. It was a quite tricky one with a little bit difficult verification. The secretary, who checked it, made mistake. And my chief, who interviewed me, couldn't believe in the result. He was quite confused, because after our conversation he'd decided that I was the right person for the job! He checked it again and found out the mistake. I was accepted! Honestly speaking, it was a great luck that I sent my CV for the best event company in Moscow and they became interested in me. Just imagine! I had no experience! I was really grateful to them for the opportunity and I did my best to learn everything necessary as soon as possible.

Five years ago almost nobody in Russia really does know anything about special events. As usual, the first step includes sales: negotiation with Client, presentation of preliminary proposal with time schedule and budget and closing a deal. The second step is the most interesting to my mind. It's a kitchen of event! Everything must be defined: a venue for event, decorations, catering, technical equipment, handouts, entertainment program, transportation and accommodation of guests, sponsors, speakers and press. All of this means endless communication with subcontractors and the Client. And of course, creativity! And the third step is a great event! It always has to meet the expectations of the Client and at the same time enthralls with something unexpected! And the golden rule of successful event is «Everything is about details!»

For now I have enough experience in different kinds of events. During first two years I have been organizing up to 150 conferences throughout Russia. It was a quite difficult project because of logistics. There were huge decorations (look at the picture, you could see it on the stage) and technical equipment, which had been traveling all over the country.

Russian conference of the accountants

The most important project was the G8 Finance Ministers Meeting in 2006 in Russia. I had been working on the help desk during the event.

The G8 Finance Ministers Meeting, Saint Petersburg

By the way, Gordon Brown visited us at that time!

Sergei Storchak, Deputy Finance Minister of Russia and Gordon Brown, the 74th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 until 2010

And the last project was the most exciting! New Year party for 1500 guests in Moscow! Everything that you could see in this picture were the idea and development of our team. The party was in the style of 50th in Russia, Stilyagi.

We held an incredible concert! And at the end we grooved to the inflammatory disco music!

All of us had a great time! Both guests and organizers!

Now my aim is to participate in organization of international event. And I hope, my work here during this month will help me to achieve it!

Сheers!

PS: My dear friends, it's always interesting to know your opinion. How do you think, what does happen more frequently, we choose our profession or profession chooses us?

Friendly greetings,

HOMEWORK №5

Hi Nuala!

First of all thank you for the vocabulary! It's really important to know how English speakers say something rather than to translate phrases form Russian into English.

Honestly, I haven't read these books, you mentioned. But I've seen this film «The Road». It's quite frightening and cruel to my mind, but if we'd abstract away from the fact of eating people, the history of the main characters, the father and the boy, is very touching! And it was interesting to watch, how it could be, if there is no civilization on the Earth.

Turn now to my homework!

Past simple and present perfect

1. All through my life books have been my best friends.

2. While I was at school I read a lot.

3. When I was young, every time I started a new piece of writing, I was absorbed.

4. I've read all Remarque's books.

5. When I was a teenager, I read the 'Three Comrades'.

6. Honestly, I have been thinking about my own business.

7. I've learned from it how to present myself.

8. As you can see, I've always been interested in books.

9. After reading his novels, I started to write my own short stories.

10. Dale Carnegie's book was exactly the right book at the right time.

That's all! Thanks!

Best wishes,

Fantasia

Hi guys!

What a beautiful summer time! Today's blog I'm going to devote to my godsend! Several years ago I was on one presentation of event management, organized by my colleague Alexandr Shumovich. It must be admitted, he is a genius of the great events! As usual, I came earlier to the hotel, where presentation should be held, to help him with decorations. We'd begun preparation, when suddenly I heard magnificent sounds of the music. Next moment I was frozen on the spot!

After few minutes listening, I turned my head to the source of the music and about ten minutes I just stood and watched what was happening on the big screen! My attention was riveted on a fairyland with fantastic creatures! I couldn't turn my eyes away from such a magnificent action! And the music hypnotized me!

I came to myself, when one of my colleagues asked me for help. I was in a whirl for all day, and I totally forget to ask what a miracle it was! From time to time I recollected it! But somehow it happened not in a right moment!

Few days ago I watched the movie about Coco Chanel and Russian composer Igor Stravinsky by French film director and producer Jan Kounen. I'd say, amazing one! I was interested in the sound track of the film and I decided searching for it! And voilà, as the French say! Unexpectedly I discovered the mystery!

What I used to watch on the presentation, it was one part of Fantasia 2000, produced by Walt Disney. The name of the masterpiece is Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky. It's a real flight of fancy! Just listen and watch it! The music is so emotional and life-asserting, and the video is so beautiful! At the end of it I couldn't hold back the tears of happiness! Thanks to Disney and his great idea of musical visualization! It effects not only on our ears, but on our eyes!

After that I researched information and discovered that in 2000 it was a sequel to 1940's Fantasia. The most famous one of the first Fantasia is The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the symphonic poem, composed by Paul Dukas. Iconic image of Mickey Mouse from this part of the cartoon was repeatedly used hereinafter by Disney, particular in both Disneyland. And sorcerer's hat become the logo of Disney Hollywood Studio. This part of cartoon was included in Fantasia 2000 as well.

You could find each of the videos in the Internet, but my favorite are The Waltz of the Flowers by great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Fantasia, 1940) and Symphony No. 5 by Ludwig van Beethoven (Fantasia, 2000). See the difference! It's really incredible how drawing technique makes progress!

And now! The end!

Friendly greetings,

Books! Books! Books!

Hi dear friends!

Remembering my promise, today I'm going to tell you about the books, which deeply affected on me. I like reading indeed! I think my mom is guilty of it! Just joking! I am very much obliged to her! During all of my life books were my best friends, advisers and teachers. Moreover, my muse!

On schooldays I had been reading a lot! Like everywhere, we had the compulsory program of literature lesson, included Russian and foreign classical books. And my mom has got a huge library at home! Every time I began every next work of writing art, I was absorbed in another world. During the time I was reading, I was living among the heroes of the book. I smiled and cried with them, thought of them and analyzed their decisions and actions.

My inward life changed after I'd read «A hero of our time» by the genius of Russian literature, Mikhail Lermontov. In this book he describes the life of a rich young man from St. Petersburg, who despises a high-society. He is against the world. And he diecided to run away, traveling. Naturally, he was trying to run from himself. It's amazing, that after I'd finished the book, I still couldn't find out the character of Pechorin, the main hero. He is the real mystery! There is something about fatality and destiny of our lives in «A hero of our time» . It was my reference book for a long time. Sometimes It seems to me that I'm trying to follow Pechorin somehow.

As to foreign books, my favorite was «The Forsyte Saga» by John Galsworthy. I learned a lot from it. It was summer time, when I was carried away by reading of the great story of Farsytes. It's captivating to follow someone's life from the beginning to the end! Moreover, several generations!

After reading novels by Russian writer Ivan Bunin, I started writing my own short stories. His style inspired me. He describes every one thing in every detail! He has very sensory descriptions of nature. With each of his word you begin to imagine and feel the atmosphere of his novel. And through the nature you understand the mood of his heroes. I think, you can notice his influence on me.

By teenager I was fond of Erich Maria Remarque. I've read it all. And I am in love with his every work. They are so passionate and lively! Generally dramatic, his novels carry an important message and a deep sense. Life is precious and true love is endless! The first thing I've read was «Three comrades». It opened my heart to love. What can I say, I'm very romantic personality!

There are the books, which appeared in the difficult moments and helped me. For example, my professional activity implies a high level of responsibility. And if you aren't prepared for it psychologically, it can depress you. Dale Carnegie with his «How to stop worrying and start living» was exactly the right thing on the right place. His method is very helpful, easy understandable and usable.

When I'd risen in my work, there was a pressing need to upgrade my business knowledge and skills. One of my good friends recommended me a book by Neil Rackham. It was «The SPIN». This book is about successful sales. But it isn't about retail trade like the salesman from Oriflamme do, for example. It tells about the sales of the projects with huge budgets and post return on investments. It must be admitted that the book helped me not only in business career, but also in my private life. I've learned from it how to present myself, the most precious good I've ever sold!

Honestly, I had been thinking about my own business. I've got different ides. For example, I'd made the business plans for Russian restaurant in Sofia and elite travel company. After I'd read "E-Myth" by Michael Gerber, I decided to store more experience and then act. I reconsidered my attitude to the idea of entrepreneurship. For good!

After my familiarity with the book by Paulo Coelho «The Pilgrimage», I decided to learn Spanish. When I'll feel that my Spanish is fluent, I'd wish to follow Coelho's way across Northern Spain on the Pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela. This is my next dream!

And the last book I'm going to tell you about is «Atlas Shrugged» by Ayn Rand. She is a Russian novelist, who lived the most time of her life in America. The story is a capitalist utopia. I think it could be an economic tutorial for any ages. Rand tells a breathtaking story about the lives of the movers and shakers, and at the same time she explains the basic rules of capitalist society. In my opinion, this book is from the category must-read!

As you see, I've always been keenly interested in books. Let's talk about your favorite one! I'd ask you to share your experience! It must be useful for all of us, don't you think?!

Friendly greetings,

Car accident

Hello dear friends,

I'd like to share with you my trouble. Yesterday I've got into a car accident. Don't worry, nobody has been hurt and I'm alive and kicking as well. Thank God!

It was in the evening. I'd gone for a drive and I just was on my way home, when It happened. I was driving Ford Fiesta, the old one.

The moment passed so quickly! When I saw the car, moving on me, I wasn't even scared. Next moment I just heard «boom»! The stroke was so powerful that my car even began to revolve. And when it stopped, honestly, I felt nothing special, I was just upset!

It must be admitted that I was guilty. There were two reasons of the accident. The first was that nor other girl nor I weren't experienced drivers. I've got the driving license before one and half a year. And my real experience is about 5 month. And the second reason was that the situation on the road was my week point. I talk about left turn. It was allowed, but I saw another car on my right side at a distance of fifty meters. Unfortunately! And it was moving with high speed, as far as I could notice.

The aftereffects of the car wreck look serious. Other car damaged my rear right wheel very much. It's visual damage, but I suppose the cardan shaft has been broken too. And other car has the breakdowns of the bonnet and the right headlight.

The policemen were very happy that there were no human casualties and they told us that about 10 accidents per week happen at this crossroads. In their opinion, it was coincidence! If I'd hurry up a bit and if she'd take her left a bit, we could pass each other. But! We both have no enough experience. And here we are!

As for me, after all this I told myself: «Congratulations! It's your first car accident and... I hope the last one! »

The moral of this story is that you need to be sure in your activities on a road one hundred per cent without any exceptions. It you are, check it twice and then move!

I wish you all driving without troubles!

Friendly greetings,

HOMEWORK №4

Hi Nuala,

Answering your question about the trams on Vitosha Boulevard, Sofia still has such a romantic transport. I like riding on it on Saturday or Sunday nights, when the city is brightly lit. And during a day it's the only way to cope with traffic jams and to be on time wherever you need. In Moscow we also have trams. But they don't help in this aspect, Moscow Metro takes this function on itself.

I'd say, you catch me! Every day I wake up and go to the window. I can't believe, I live in the city with such an amazing view! There are no hills or mountains in my native city, that's why I admire Vitosha Mountain. And the Campsies are magnificent! Do you miss the view, living in London? Have you ever been on the top of them?

The Volga river cruise

Hi everybody! On June 12 Russia day is celebrated. It's the annual national holiday of the Russian Federation since 1992. It must be admitted that the attitude to this holiday in Russia is rather ambiguous. Many people consider this day as a tragic date, when the process of disintegration of the USSR starts. However the fact is that after this day Russia has got its present look with its national flag, anthem and emblem of the Russian Federation. That's why today I dedicate my blog to Russia or, to be more exact, the Volga river cruise.

Last year I worked as an interpreter and a host on the government project between Russia and Bulgaria, which name was The year of Bulgarian culture in Russia. It means, the receiving side, Russia, had been organizing concerts, performances and shows on the territory of the Russian Federation with the participation of Bulgarian artists during a year.

In autumn a great opportunity to take a view on a little part of the vast expanse of my homeland appeared. Our tour began in Moscow and we had been traveling by motor vessel down the Volga for almost one month. It's so fortunate! In spite of rainy season, the weather was wonderful! We had been bathing in the sun on the upper deck of white motor vessel «Ilya Repin» all days long. And at nights we had been grooving to the music there! Lots of fun!

Of cause, it was so, when we were free. In other time it may say, we worked as horses! Usually we sailed up in the city early in the morning and first of all we went to see the stage, where the concert used to be held. As usual it was the main theatre of the city. Ancient or modern, but grandiose! Our technical group installed the sets, made sound and light check. The observing of this process was incredible experience! It's amazing, when you understand the mechanism of the performance on the inside! And of course it's awfully interesting to be on the back stage! Then the artists rehearsed till the late afternoon. The second part of a day we used to see local attractions and make official meeting with the Administration of the city.

The day after arriving began with hearty welcome of local girls and boys in native costumes with folk songs and bread with salt, according Russian tradition. After that the press conference and the concert were held. It seemed the whole town had gathered in front of the concert place. It must be admitted, we had a great success and the guests were extremely pleased and grateful! The artists played an encore in each city!

We've visited with the concerts nine Russian cities with population about 1 million people, which means that we were in the largest cities in Russia. All of them are different with their own fascinating atmosphere!

Yaroslavl is the key point. It has a bear on its emblem, that's way it's favorite town of the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev (Medved is translated from Russian as a bear). Just a joke!

Nizhniy Novgorod is famous for its Kremlin.

The city, where I live

HI, everybody! Today I invite you to take a walk around the city, where I live now. Sofia is the capital and the largest city of Bulgaria. Its population is about 2 million people. It is located at the foot of extinct volcano Vitosha. Here were founded the structures, dated the 4th century BC. The present motto of Sofia is «Ever growing, never old! »

Yesterday I decided to pretend a tourist! I took my photo camera and went sightseeing. I'd say it was quite unusual pastime, taking into account, that I've viewed local attractions several times. Unexpectedly, I liked it very much! Now you have an opportunity to get an idea of Sofia without leaving your place. Take a comfortable position and enjoy!

First of all take a look at the map. There are a lot of tourist attractions, but I'm going to show you the most remarkable. You can see the red line, which marked the bus rout. And following the arrow sign, we begin our tour on the square, where Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is situated.

The Cathedral is dedicated to Russian Saint, Prince Alexander Nevsky. It was built between 1904 and 1912 in honor to the Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, as a result of which Bulgaria was liberated from Ottoman rule. St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is the second biggest orthodox cathedral in the Balcan States. It accommodates about five thousand persons.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

At the right side of the Cathedral you can see long building on the corner of the street. It's the Sofia University of St. Kliment Ohridski.

The Sofia University of St. Kliment Ohridski

The University is often regarded as the most prestigious university of Bulgaria, founded in 1888. It has 16 faculties and three departments, where 14,000 students receive their education annually.

Yesterday it was very hot day and I was extremely happy, when I'd happened on a salutary yogurt bar. There you can choose any fresh frozen barriers and cut fruits you like and then they are mixed with yogurt or without it. I chose the one with raspberries and strawberries! It was cool pleasure! Very delicious!

To the next destination my way passed through one of many green oasis of Sofia, where I found this stone car. It's so amusing, isn't it?

At the left side of the Cathedral, down on Tzar Osvoboditel boulevard you will find Russian Orthodox Church, officially known as Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle-Make.

Russian Church

The Church was built after the liberation of Bulgaria by Russia from the Ottoman Empire and was named, as was the tradition for diplomatic churches, for the patron saint of the Emperor who ruled Russia at the time, Nicholas II of Russia.

On the other side of the street I found the egg of the happiness. On the plate was written «Touch that egg and make a wish!». Guess, what I did within the next few minutes!

I continued to walk down on the street to The former royal palace at Battenberg Square. Now it's called the National Art Gallery. I'm fond of details and I couldn't resist taking a picture of these pretty notes on the roof of the building.

The National Art Gallery

Finally here we are, in the heart of the city! It is marked with the monument of Sofia.

The monument of Sofia

These next building are the most important in Bulgaria, because here the President and the Government sit.

The Former Party House

The President's Office

The Trial Chamber

Holy Sunday Church is my favorite one in Sofia, my place of meditation. When I'm in, I feel that I can communicate with my family as if I am next to them.

Holy Sunday Church

We won't follow the red line anymore and turn to Vitosha boulevard, the pedestrian street of Sofia, which is in the middle of the map.

Vitosha boulevard, the pedestrian street of Sofia

We make our way to the main place which used by locals and tourists to relax and take a gulp of fresh air during a day. It's the neighborhood of the National Place of Culture, the central concert and event hall.

National Place of Culture

Yang people choose this place for riding skateboard and cycling. As for me, I like reading on the grass, sitting in the shade. Moreover here you can taste the best pizza and ice cream in the city!

It was late afternoon, when I decided to have a dinner at last. My way to the restaurant ran across Sloveykov Square, where the Book market is located. I'm its frequent customer. Here you can find classical and modern best sellers in different languages and various educational books as well.

And I couldn't pass by this lovely shop with wooden figures and toys.

The end of my walk was jammy!

That's all for now! I hope, I could show you around Sofia and our photo tour was enjoyable. .

Friendly greetings,
