Wait, wait July!

The month of July has left very quickly; I could not blog enough articles in my one month probation but however, I read many interesting comments from the numerous BBC English Learning funs whose enthusiasm gave me more power to continue writing. I wrote on sport, wedding culture, insecurity, youth, Education System, and International Commitments to the rebuilding of my country. Here are many other unsaid issues which I couldn't share with you but I hope I will be given the chance once again to release some more knots of our social and cultural life. I am very thankful of every one of you who has accompanied me until my last blogging. I really learnt many new words, expressions and idioms from Kim's instruction and I am sure you did so.

In a country like Afghanistan, it is very difficult to take the breath of a real comfortable life where every minute ahead is suspicious and no one knows what will happen next. War-lords are still active, those parties involved in the civil war are yet can to destabilize the situation, the insurgence is more powerful than it was few years ago and the rate of unemployment and illiteracy is still another thread to challenge this war-ravaged country.
Just 30 years ago my country was an example of stabilization and development in every field of life but the miserable imposed war has leaded everything to its worse feature.
I read many comments of sympathy from many of you while I was blogging some stories, thank you all for that, but to be honest, my people never keen in hearing sympathy from others; they also want to have a developed and free of war society to share their joy and happiness with the rest of the world. and I apologize for one of my blogging story (Daddy Daddy, don't forget to bring my school shoes) which made you sad, because I read some of the comments had advised me not to write such kind of stories again and this is because their happiness is threaten by my posted story which is already mixed with a nature that has grown up in the miserable war. I hope the day will come when my country will be taking every breath in peace and prosperity and there will be no need to post such a sad story. Once again thank you all for joining me.
Warmest Regards

1st Grade Student With 16 Subjects

I think it is very difficult for a small student of grade 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to read and learn 16 subjects in total. According to the curriculum of our education system, students of the primary schools have to have 16 or more subjects in their first, second and third grade of school which is the biggest burden on their shoulders. Every day they have to study 6 subjects at school and then they must do 6 homework at home too.

They leave home for school around 7:30 AM and return back home on 1:00 pm. immediately after taking lunch they need to lay down over their books and notebooks to do the homework of 6 subjects. The small children like newly born babies looking humbly at their parents or elder brothers and sisters if they can help them in doing their homework. These smallest human being need to work until evening or sometimes until late at night to prepare themselves for teacher's questions tomorrow.
Here might be questions raised up in your mind that why I have written the above story? The answer is concluded in a few sentences:
As per the students' age and physical structure they are not able to pick up such heavy load, they have no time to play, they are badly under pressure and they are easily get suffered from divers health problems.
This is just to share with you if it is the same in your countries?

Kabul is on lock down

The schools and universities are suspended, Markets are closed, auto workshops are out of work and the city is empty of private vehicles. The citizens are walking through long distances to reach their destinations. All these are because of security measures taken for Kabul International Conference, the first of its kind in Kabul.

On July 20, 2010, the Government of Afghanistan will bring together representatives of more than 70 partner countries, international and regional organizations and financial institutions to deliberate and endorse an Afghan Government-led plan for improved development, governance, and stability. According to the government media, the conference aims to support a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan. It will be opened by President Hamid Karzai, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and co-chaired by the Afghan Foreign Minister Rassoul and UN Special Representative Staffan de Mistura.
The ordinary people are under a wide lock down and cannot go anywhere. My home is a stone's throw away from the main road connecting Kabul international airport with the rest of the city where I saw people of every age this morning walking up and down along the road. Only security forces and foreign delegations' caravans can be seen while coming out from the airport. I talked to some of the people to know their opinion about the conference.
Mr Ataaullah a shopkeeper told me that, this conference will be the same in results as other conferences that held in London and Paris which has not any positive impact on the life of civilians and the money will go again to a few pockets and will not do much for people.
My daughter is on the edge of death, I want to take her to the hospital but because of the lock down there is no any car or taxi. Ms. Fatima, teacher of a primary school told me very quickly while she was walking rapidly towards the hospital if she can find a doctor; she just angrily condemned the conference.

Lucky Lottery

I was called by the ministry of culture, information and youth to participate in a gathering where representative from several other youth organization were also invited to establish the first Youth High Council in the country. I am sharing the story of just three days ago since my writing this topic.

Minister, Deputy Minister, Parliamentarians, and other high ranking governmental official were sitting among the huge number of youth in the International Media Hall inside the ministry's building. When the Minister and Deputy Minister talked on the importance of having a High Council of Youth, the organizer asked youth representative to introduce candidates for the council. Forty four youths out of fifty five raised their hands as candidates. I was sitting in a corner of the hall observing the situation when some of the representative criticized on the process of election and candidatures and they said, the minister and his deputy must present an effective mechanism for candidatures and voting process in order to ensure transparency of selection. Thereafter, some of the representative supported current election system where everyone can vote and some rejected the process. The Minister and his Deputy were wondering what to do? Because, there was no any prior system or regulation neither for candidates nor for voting. Those who already had supporters were insisting on voting and those who were sure having no supporters rejected voting system and it nearly obliged the authority to cancel the establishment of Youth Council.
I had an idea! I quickly jumped on to the stage without any invitation, amazing, I proposed the system of Lottery which was welcomed by audiences. So, two people were assigned to write the name of each representative organization on a piece of papers and put them in a box. A child who was accompanying his mother was asked to come and take each folded chance paper.
It was written in the manifesto that, the council should have nineteen members in total. And after few minutes nineteen youth representatives were selected and surprisingly my name was also in the lucky lottery. Now I am member of the Afghanistan Youth High Council.

Dance in the Bride's Wedding Party

I and my office colleagues were invited to participate in a wedding party held in one of the city hotels last night. Most of the people have already been there when we reached. Those who invited by groom's family seemed glad and were roaming around inside the hotel and those who were invited by bride's family were calm and sitting in several corners of the wedding hall. Relatives, friends and family members of the groom were dancing to the live music of a famous Afghan singer. One of my friends who comes from a part of the country where they naturally likes dancing to live music whispered to me and said "I want to dance" I quickly replied with a smile " no problem but you know, traditionally it doesn't seem well if one from bride's side dance" and we are invited by bride's family.

It still belongs to our rural culture and the reason behind this, is, losing member of one family to another family where the girl will be a permanent member of another family not of her parents by then. And this is why the bride's side shows its sadness and sympathy by sitting calm or merely talking to the people around the tables. But this custom is changing day by day especially in the cities and both sides try to make fun.
We were looking at musicians' performance. They started to play a very rustic music and song with hitting the drums when my friend looked around in a glance and said loudly, "I don't care who has invited me, I cannot wait any longer" we all were laughing and within few seconds he was among the groom's side dancing crazily.

Dady Dady, please don't forget to bring my school shoes

I always wake up before 6 : 00 AM getting ready to go to office but today It was almost 7:30 AM when a sudden strong jerk awaked me from my sleepy mood. It was exactly a heavy explosion of suicide attack. As usual my mom asked me in hurry to go to the explosion place and help the casualties. My home is around one hundred meters from the main road to the Kabul International airport where such attacks taking place mostly. After few minutes I was there.

A vehicle of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was entirely in the fire and smoke was rising up in the cloudy sky. Wounded and killed civilians were laying down on the road and road sides and blood of the wounds was flowing like someone has broken a tanker of blood. I hesitated to helping which one of them, because everyone was in a dire need of help that time. National police along with ordinary people were running to collect bodies, meat and part of bodies of the human beings, I started helping with 2 others to get an injured out of his car while another injured at my back just pulled my leg toward him, I saw him in a very bad condition yelling for rescue. I tried to hold him up from the road and take him to the ambulance, he was a bit heavy, but I could manage by help of another person to take him to the ambulance, there were few other bodies already inside the ambulance. The driver accelerated towards the hospital, but unfortunately after few minutes the wounded man who seems to be a shopkeeper had lost his live in my hug while his mobile phone was ringing in his pocket, I though it is the best time to answer his phone in order to Inform his friends or family members. I answered the phone while I heard the voice of a small child saying, "Dady Dady, please don't forget to bring my school shoes on your returning back home".
Now it is almost one year passed, but I still feel, that child is asking for his school shoes from his dead Dad.

1th July my 1th blogging day

First July 2010 is my first BBC English Language blogging adventure. My fingers were touching my PC's keyboard writing a topic when a rapid pops up on the screen caught my eyes and drew my attention "World Cricket League Division one, first July and the first Afghanistan Cricket match against Canada in Netherland". Thereafter, it was all about my blogging. few of my other office colleagues joined me in watching the game, who will win ?

The team called Out of Ashes who recently got preparation in the heating city of Jalal Abad for the cold city games in Netherland or the team fully equipped and fully provided by every kind of sports facilities? Nobody knows, one of my friends nodded and said, I am sure the team of miracles will win, but none of us got the word at this moment. The one next to me whispered, it is not miracles, but it is a hidden talent and the Afghan team with no sports facilities even with no ever having a play ground in the whole country reached the top of cricket, and their talent made them story of tongues in the world. i forgot to write to my first blog on first July. i changed the room to start writing again, right after few minutes I heard the long applaud, shouting and happy emotions not only from my friends room, but from the streets surrounding our office, and the Team of Miracles Won by Six Wickets on first July my first blogging day

What about you, do you like watching or play Cricket?
