12 new acts have been nominated from right across the country to come in and record a special session as part of our Maida Vale Weekender on March 29 and 30.

We'll be covering all the action on the BBC Introducing website and we'll switch you onto some great new music.

In the lead up, let's take a look at the the bands who've been nominated to come in and record.

]]>little_fish.jpg In less than a year Little Fish have made one heck of an impact on the Oxford music scene and beyond.

To think it all started when the two members Juju and Nez bumped into each other in a chip shop in Oxford and got into a heated musical debate.

Ever since their first radio play on our show BBC Oxford Introducing their rise has been inexorable. There have been BBC Sessions, a gig at Glastonbury, a vote for the 2nd Best Single of the Year by writers of Oxford’s local music magazine Nightshift (second only to current chart favourites Foals) and a support slot with local rock gods Supergrass at the Town Hall.

Juju's spine-tingling voice has been compared to the likes of Janis Joplin, PJ Harvey and Patti Smith. Along with her Jimmy Page-esque guitar licks and Nez's thunderous drumming, the duo offer a visceral live experience. It’s going to be amazing to hear how they will sound when recorded at Maida Vale in the same studios where The Beatles went Pop and every other musical luminary since has plied their trade.

They've recently been working on some much anticipated new material in their own studios. 2008 is indeed looking very bright for Little Fish, so now is the time to catch the band before they go stratospheric.
