We had a fantastic time at this year’s IIFA Awards in Toronto. For us it’s always like hooking up with old friends on a summer holiday. The great and good of Bollywood were there, SRK rushed over and hugged us, Sonakshi Sinha gave us a Jhatkha, Asha Bhosle praised us with “aap ke mun mein ghee shukher Raj & Pablo”, Hema Malini & Esha Deol who launched their new movie greeted us too, along with the dashing Deols Dharam Ji, Sunny and Bobby. Irfan Khan told us all about Hollywood, as did Anil Kapoor and Zeenat Aman sensationally whispered "Wow It's Raj & Pablo!"

Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan were the first stars we met and they were very excited about their new production company ‘Born Free’ and made us feel right at home sharing gossip and continuously making us laugh albeit at our expense sometimes!
Newcomer Ranveer Singh has a huge heart and we can truly say in him, we have found a friend for life. God bless the IIFA’s!

We’ve all been having Bollytastic withdrawal symptoms as there have been no new releases due to the glorious cricket! However as always we’ve been flying the Bollywood flag high on the show.

The divine diva Asha Bhosle has been in town for a series of concerts to promote her latest ghazal based album Naina Lagaike with classical maestro Shujaat Khan. Have to say the lady is tireless – she arrived in London after a series of concerts and has just signed her first movie Maee – in which she plays a mother to Padmin Kholapure – it's going to be an emotional tearjerker! As always Asha Tai sent us her blessings and was moved at the wonderful welcome she received. More on Asha Ji’s amazing culinary skills very soon! Don’t forget to tune in on Tuesday when Gagan Grewal has a wee chat with our legend!

Talking of Asha Tai one of her immortal tunes from Dev Anand’s Hare Rama Hare Krishna – Dum Maro Dum has been re invented for Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maro Dum which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Prateik Babbar. The promo of the song featuring sizzling Deepika Padukone has been released already and caused quite a stir.

We love Akshay Kumar – he’s one of the most understated of stars. He’s in the UK shooting for Desi Boys and called us over for a catch up. We hooked up with the Khiladi while he was dubbing in London for the forthcoming Thank You. It's an Anees Bazmee production with stars Akshay, Sunil Shetty, Irfan Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Celina Jaitley and Rimmi Sen. All we can reveal at this stage is that it’s a movie with a message and Men Beware!

The 13th London Film Festival opened with Onir’s I Am. It’s a brilliant movie with four separate but interlinked stories. Producer and one of the stars of the film Sanjay Suri joined us on the show on Saturday. He’s a visionary producer and raised the finance for the movie through social networking sites. We are both looking forward to catching up with Juhi Chalwa and Manisha Koriala next weekend - they play estranged Kashmiri friends in the movie – one a muslim and the other a hindu pandit.

And if you are missing films do check out Tanu Weds Manu - it’s become one of the surprise hits the year. Mahdavan and Kangana and Jimmy Shergil are simply superb. But fear not April sees a plethora of releases starting with Faltu with Jackky Bhagnani and Ritesh Desmukh and Game with Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana, and Jimmy Shergil.

Raj & Pablo's Three Weddings & Seven Bollytastic Funerals

It's been Wedding Week on the network and keeping with the theme the former Miss Universe Lara Dutta celebrated her nuptials with tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi in a low key Victorian-style wedding in Goa. Lara says she’s never been more in love and has killed all rumours of a rivalry with Don 2 co -star Priyanka Chopra by inviting her!

Keeping in with weddings, the buzz on Tanu Weds Manu, which releases at the end of the month, is strong and the Bolly Bhangra songs are a rage already. It’s an everyday story of a 'seedha dadha' NRI - Mannu - played by Madhavan who has an arranged marriage with a tempestuous desi diva – Tanu – played by Kangna and the disasters that ensue. Kangana hopes to finally shed her intense image with this comedic role, but will Salman Khan, who shot for a special appearance, still be in the final cut? The question that's on everyone's lips?

Before we get to the funerals we loved the theme of every NRI’s dream of a big Bollytastic Yash Chopra filmi wedding in Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House. The movie’s done well overseas and is all about a family living in Southall, tackling issues of racism and changing traditional family values. The movie debuted at No 11 in the UK Box Office and the word of mouth in India is good.

We loved your reactions to the movie on the shows last weekend – Akshay is understated, Rishi as the domineering father superb, Dimple fits totally into the chappals of a long suffering Southall mum and Anushkha is sparkling. Akshay is also pleased with the reactions and despite his back injury has been filming in Chandigarh for Shrish Kunder’s 3D movie Joker with Sonakshi Sinha.

With every wedding there is a funeral waiting to happen say some and like all things in Bollywood we always make it bigger and better as this week sees the release of the eagerly awaited Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf. It sees the powerhouse that is Priyanka Chopra tackle what she calls one of her most challenging roles. Based on Ruskin Bond’s short story Susanna’s Seven Husbands, Priyanka Chopra plays Susanna and her character ages from 20 – 65 and buries seven husbands in this black comedy.

We caught up with an excited but exhausted Priyanka Chopra last week – she is on the go 24/7 and had just finished a show with Madhuri Dixit – and reveals all about her role and her forthcoming projects including Krish 2 and Agneepath.

Raj&Pablo's Hum Dono

It’s been a busy week post Filmfare - the stars have been celebrating the most glamorous event and the buzz of seeing the mesmerizing Madhuri Dixit performing with Shah Rukh. The Dhak Dhak Girl has lost none of her glamour and don’t forget you can hear us chatting to her in an exclusive interview, she joined us straight after the awards show – download our special Podcast dedicated to her and the other stars we spoke to from our Love Bollywood page.

Old is Gold is what we say, and who could be more golden than the amazing Dev Anand. He had a star studded premier with the who’s who of the industry attending for the colorised re-release of his classic ‘Hum Dono Rangeen’. Which stars the evergreen hero, Sadhna and Nanda. Originally released in 1961 the film is a gripping war story with romance and twists and turn. A massive hit, it’s been restored and the premier was attended by the likes of Dharmendra, Aamir Khan, Bappi Lahiri, Govinda, Imtiaz Ali, Jackie Shroff, Ranbir Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Prem Chopra, Salman Khan, Sunny Deol and more.

Talking of the Deols, we had a quick chat with the elusive Sunny Deol - he is over the moon at the success of YPD and confirmed there will be a sequel! Sunny tells us what he thinks of the changes in the industry and what it’s really like working with Bobby and daddy Dharmendra. You can hear our chat with Sunny on our show very very soon!

We had a brilliant surprise when we were joined on the show by Nilesh Sahey – the young actor makes his Bollywood debut in next week’s film release ‘Angel’ which is directed by choreographer Ganesh Acharya. He is going to give Ranbir , Ranvir and Imran a run for their money we’re sure. Not only is he Sanjay Dutt’s nephew - his great aunt was the legendary Nargis. He is also the son of the iconic actress Zaheeda. We had a blast and a few years ago actually met him on a flight from New York to London - talking all things Bollywood and Champagne Bubbles to boot!

A big Raj&Pablo Bolly happy birthday to both Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan. - Preity celebrated in the Maldives in an exclusive spa (whilst she prepares for her TV Debut) and Abhishek who is on a strict fitness regime was joined in New Zealand by his wife Aishwariya Rai Bachchan – where he is filming for Abbas Mastan’s Players

Next week is going to be fun as we are gearing up for the release of Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House – it’s going to be fun with Akshay Kumar, Anoushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple. In a tale of a father son conflict set in sunny Southall.

Raj&Pablo's Filmfare Awards!

As you all know we LOVE the glitz and glam that is synonomous with the largest film industry in the world – Bollywood. On Sunday’s show we celebrated the 56th Filmfare Awards – The Indian Film Industry’s equivalent of the Oscars held at Movie Mogul’s YASH CHOPRA’s STUDIOS. The awards were first introduced in 1954, and were initially referred to as the Clare Awards after the editor of The Times of India - Clare A Mandy.

This year's awards saw the great and good of the industry in all their splendour from Amitabh Bachchan, Gulzar, SRK, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif with sister Isabelle to name a few.

The critically acclaimed UDAAN lived up to it's credibility by winning 7 Filmfare Awards, not bad for a small film unrelased in the UK and shown at Cannes. It's the story about a boy called Rohan who is abandoned for 8 years in boarding school and returns to the small industrial town of Jamshedpur. Here he finds himself closeted with an authoritarian father and a younger half brother who he didn't even know existed. Forced to work in his father's steel factory and study engineering against his wishes, he strives to forge his own life and pursue his dream of being a writer – do catch this on DVD.

But mainstream Bollywood was honoured in all its glory with Karan Johar’s MY NAME IS KHAN winning Best Actor for SRK, Best Actress for Kajol and Best Director for Karan Johar. SRK was presented the award by the Diva-tastic REKHA in all her glory; her long plait the talk of the town. SRK went on to say “I want to take this award for my daughter. I wanted to make her wear a red gown and walk in with me on the red carpet. But she's unwell".

DABANGG won 6 Awards including Best Film and Best Debutant for Sonakshi Sinha and a beaming Arbaaz Khan with wife Malaika Arora Khan who were over the moon. Malaika sizzled in her white gown.

Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Chopra presented Amitabh Bachchan an award for completing 40 years in the film industry. Yash Chopra said, "Amitabh Bachchan is the best actor in the world".

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan presented Madhuri Dixit Nene an award for completing 25 years in the film industry and one of the highlights of the evening was a special performance by SRK and Madhuri Dixit – who performed songs from OM SHANTI OM, RAB NE BANA DE JODI AND DIL TO PAGAL HAI. Madhuri looked stunning in a pink ghagra choli while SRK wore a black pathani salwar keameez. Madhuri was watched by her former rival for the No1 Slot – SRI DEVI who looked ageless in a backless silk green gown!

Bollywood Does Southall, Hits and Awards

Bollywood has started this year with a bang - WHO KILLED JESSICA - has done really well; YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA has the cash registers ringing world wide and DHOBI GHAT is set to more than recoup its investment.

The big buzz in town this week is the beginning of the promotions for Nikhil Advani’s PATIALA HOUSE. Starring Akshay Kumar, Anoushka Sharma , Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia it’s Bollywood’s look at 2nd and 3rd generation Asians growing up in Southall. Akshay Kumar plays a Southall lad at a crossroads – should he continue his pursuit of becoming a cricketer or follow in his father’s footsteps? The music is already a big hit and the track LAUNGDA LASHKARA moved up a massive 22 places to number 2 in the Official Asian Download Chart - will it claim one of our favourites, Sheila Ki Jawani’s, crown this week?

The legendary Dharmendra is over the moon with the success of YPD and is in talks for a sequel as well as considering releasing his poetry this year. On family, the legend is looking forward to the release of TELL ME OH KHUDHA which sees him sharing screen time with daughter Esha Deol – he plays her long lost dad in the movie produced by his wife Hema Malini. Let's hope the lucky streak continues as Esha Deol has devoted all her energies into this movie.

On Saturday we take a look at this week’s big release – DIL TO BACCHA HAI JI – and will be joined by EMRAAN HASHMI and director MADHUR BHANDARKAR. This will be Madhur’s first ever romantic comedy all about three guys – Ajay Devgun, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya and their trials and tribulations in love. Madhur, who is known for his hard hitting movies like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion, is on fine form as the initial reviews have been very positive. Find out more on Saturday’s Show!

India’s fourth highest civilian honours - The Padma Shri’s were announced and Bollywood featured heavily with honours bestowed to Kajol, Irfan Khan and the loveable diva Usha Uthup. We adore Usha, who can be heard crooning in her delicious tones in “Darling” from the forthcoming Priyanka Chopra starrer “7 KHOON MAAF” . The song is on repeat play for us so do check it out..

Talking about awards we are all geared up for this weekend’s Filmfare Awards. It's going to be a night of glitz n' glam and jhatkha matkha numbers as the Bollywood Industry celebrates the best of 2010. Bolly Waxing and Washing

It's been a week of Bolly Waxing ‘n Washing for us – what do we mean ?

Well we just hope it’ll all come out in the wash! Last week saw the release of Yamla Pagla Deewana and it’s a double dhamaka for the Deols. Their first family trio starrer – Apne – was a hit and now YPD is bringing in the dollars for the Deols as the film is a world wide hit. Director Samir Karnik told us all about working with the magical trio and how wonderful Dharam Ji is. He also revealed he must have been a Punjabi in a previous life as he loves all things to do with the state. He even took Salman Khan to the Golden Temple in his last movie Heroes.

We also chatted to the girl who is taking Bollywood by storm, the effervescent Sonakshi Sinha. Success has not gone to her head despite wining awards for Best Newcomer at both the Star Screen Awards and at last week's Zee Cine Awards in Singapore. The Filmfare Awards take place next month so will she be able to get the hat trick? She told us it's brilliant to be acknowledged and she'll be in Race 2 and there's a sequel to Dabaang – Hurrah! Waxing is a painful chore as many people know but not for our friend Hrithik Roshan who arrived in London on Thursday to unveil his statue at Madam Tussauds. Every inch the humble superstar, Hrithik was amazed at the result. The waxwork cost £150,000 and is based on his look – six pack and all - from Dhoom 2. Hats off to Hrithik who was superb in Guzarish – can't wait for Zindagi Na Mile Dobara.

Washing is a chore for Aamir Khan or so jokes his wife, the lovely Kiran Rao. We cheekily asked them about why she made a film about Dhobis if that's the case. Their reply? Well you'll have to listen to Saturday’s show for the full interview. Have to say they make a wonderful couple and their hilarious banter is on par with us. We also spoke to Prateik Babbar – he plays the underclass Dhobi in Dhobi Ghat – and mark our words he is going to be huge!. The late great Smita Patil’s son has been a friend of the show for a couple of years now and if you listen on Sunday you'll hear him talk about growing up with his grandparents and what fame really means to him.

Bolly Award Season Is Here!

It's all systems go for us after the hurly burly of the festive season – 2011 is all set to be a bumper year for Bollywood. Last week saw the release of the powerful “Who Killed Jessica” which saw powerhouse performances from Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan. Vidya joined us last Saturday fresh from winning the Best Actress Award at the Start Screen Awards for her role as the revenge driven wife in “Ishqiya”. She told us she had organised a special screening for Rekha and promised to give Madam R a big Raj&Pablo hug!

Word on the street is that “Who Killed Jessica” is good and the movie has picked up considerably – do let us know what you thought! And for all you fashionistas out there – Vidya opted for the Red Kanjeveeram Sari for her birthday present – her mum buys her a K-sari, the Chanel of Saris, every year for her birthday but she asked us to chose the colour – red or black! We went with Red of course as it always stands out when accepting awards!

Staying with awards – last week’s trophy season kicked of with the Star Screen Awards presented by Shah Rukh Kahn and Shahid Kapoor. Audience members were entertained by performances from Katrina Kaif (she performed Sheila – don’t forget to log on to our Raj&Pablo In Conversation with Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Farah Khan), Priyanka Chopra and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan. A special SRK tribute was paid to the Divas – Asha Parekh, Zeenat Aman, Rekha and Hema Malini.

Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan will host the proceedings, with the who’s who of Bolly La-La Land in attendance. Join us this weekend as we get an update and are joined by Sonakshi Sinha who is expected to win for Best Newcomer for her role as the feisty village belle for the blockbuster Dabaang.

We are also reviewing the Deol Dhamaka – yep we are going to be in Chak De Phate mood as the eagerly awaited YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA is released. It stars Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in a massalla packed movie about Punjabi con-men who discover the error of their ways when love, in the form of a seedhi sadhi Punjabi kudi, changes their ways.

Two Strangers and A Robot!

First of all thank you for all your reactions to last week's shows, we’ve conveyed all your commments and praise to Aamir Khan – who is very touched. He thoroughly enjoyed the show and especially you guys.

We are now looking forward to his wife, Kiran Rao’s “Dhoobi Ghat” which stars Aamir himself and Pratik Babbar - the late great Smita Patil’s son. The film will be screened at The London Film Festival before its release next year. You can catch it on October 14th and 17th if you get your skates on.

This week there are 2 bolly movies out - Anjaana Anjaani and Robot. We caught Robot on Thursday night and have to say Rajnikant and Aishwariya are magnificent but the magic of the movie is in its special effects. They are as good as anything Hollywood has to offer and leave you gobsmacked - Love Story 2050 eat your heart out!

The audience was overwhelmed when 15 mins into the movie the lights went up; security rushed out and suddenly the vision that is Miss Aiswariya Rai was escorted into the auditrioum! The audience went crazy and Aish looking serenely beautiful thanked the them for coming. Then to everyone’s surprise she introduced her hubby Abhishek Bachchan. Abhi looked up and told everyone that he wouldn’t say much as tonight was his good lady wife’s evening ! The golden couple are in London for a whistle stop visit and what a pleasure it was to see them.

We will be reviewing both Robot and Anjaana Anjaani this weekend.

We really enjoyed speaking to him and the hour just flew past. This man has made Indian film history with hit after hit – we jokingly call him Father “Aamir” Christmas as for three years in a row he has released his home productions on Xmas Eve. Yet depite all the success he's such a humble guy - his boundless energy never ceases to amaze us.

Whilst recording at the BBC Radio Theatre, Aamir revealed he is deeply shy which many people mistake as arrogance and that the one thing that really energizes him is the process of film making. He is happiest when he's acting.

After the show all three of us went for some fresh air away from the hurly buly. What was funny was that we all started to chat to each other by asking the same question! Can you guess what it was?
