BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards are a chance for you to recognise some of your own personal heroes in your everyday life and in the celebrity world.

We asked you to nominate someone out there, so amazing, that you think the world needs to hear about them. Your nomination could have been a sibling, carer, fundraiser or just a great mate. As long as they have done something truly out of the ordinary or selfless, are aged between 12 - 17 years and live in the UK they could be nominated.

All of the entries were reviewed by our team at Radio 1 and a shortlist has been created. The shortlist is then presented to a panel of celebs and experts who will decide on the winners.

We also asked you to vote for your favourite person or persons for Best British Single, Young Sporting Hero, Album, TV Show and Music Act from a shortlist created by our panel.

The winners will be announced and presented with their awards on Sunday 9th October at the Teen Awards. Nick Grimshaw and Mollie (The Saturdays) will be hosting the awards and your fave pop stars will be performing live!

If you can't be there in person, watch the performances and the award presentations live here on BBC Red Button.

More than a quarter of a million people have now come to see the Bang Goes The Theory roadshow.
Reel History

The Reel History of Britain retells the fascinating stories about how life in Britain used to be, through the film collections of the British Film Institute and other National and Regional Film Archives.

The BBC Two series will focus on a different aspect of British life, highlighting the hardships and simple pleasures, as well as the enormous social changes that took place from the 1900s onwards.

Each film explores how ordinary British people worked, loved and lived in the 20th century, as seen through social documentaries, tourist information films, newsreels, and government propaganda films.

These films have now been carefully restored by Britain's film archives and are available to be seen again for the first time in generations. They showcase the people and places of Britain; their preoccupations, lifestyles and ambitions for the future. They reveal a forgotten Britain that has since changed forever.

The Marches

Watch two specially-made films, to accompany these Radio 4 Afternoon Plays.

Man in a Wheelbarrow: Wednesday 7 September: 2.15pm - 3pm

Fearless Librarian Saves the Day: Thursday 8 September: 2.15pm - 3pm

Press the red button from BBC One.

Over the past year, BBC Radio Drama has worked in partnership with the Rural Media Company and the Herefordshire communities of Kington and Ewyas Harold to create The Marches - a highly innovative project that combines the mediums of radio and film with community participation.

The project gave each community the opportunity to be part of the creative process behind two original Afternoon Plays as well as two accompanying films. Over 150 people aged from 7 to 85 from rural Herefordshire have taken part in the project over the past twelve months. The Marches captures the sounds and images of contemporary rural life, together with the voices, lives, stories and histories of the rural border regions of England and Wales.

Rural Media undertook the research and community development to help create the radio plays. The communities shared local stories and their experiences of the towns with award-winning writer Sebastian Baczkiewicz, who in turn used these accounts as inspiration for two original Afternoon Plays for Radio 4.

In January 2011, BBC Radio Drama recorded the two radio plays in Kington (Man in a Wheelbarrow) and Ewyas Harold (Fearless Librarian Saves The Day) with a cast of professional actors, and with walk-on roles played by some members of the community.

In June 2011, Rural Media Company shot two films that accompany the plays. These films enrich the imagery and story-telling of the radio plays, and were created with the participation of the local communities.

The film that accompanies Man In A Wheelbarrow was directed by John Humphreys. It is a lovingly crafted visual exploration of Kington and the locations, places and events of the play. It features the Kington Festival's famous Wheelbarrow Race as well as stories, ideas and themes gathered from across the market town.

Adrian and Rachel Lambert directed the film that accompanies Fearless Librarian Saves The Day, inspired by the community of the village of Ewyas Harold. Taking the idea of the village hall fete, the film required 120ft of trestle tables and the creation of twenty carefully composed visual re-interpretations of the radio drama, complete with turf, gravel, a freshly caught salmon and mass community participation on the last day of filming!

You can also watch the films online at bbc.co.uk/radio4

Available on all platforms
Wed 7th September, 2:15pm-3:00pm
Thu 8th September, 2:15pm-3:00pm

Reel History

The Reel History of Britain retells the fascinating stories about how life in Britain used to be, through the film collections of the British Film Institute and other National and Regional Film Archives.

The BBC Two series will focus on a different aspect of British life, highlighting the hardships and simple pleasures, as well as the enormous social changes that took place from the 1900s onwards.

Each film explores how ordinary British people worked, loved and lived in the 20th century, as seen through social documentaries, tourist information films, newsreels, and government propaganda films.

These films have now been carefully restored by Britain’s film archives and are available to be seen again for the first time in generations. They showcase the people and places of Britain; their preoccupations, lifestyles and ambitions for the future. They reveal a forgotten Britain that has since changed forever.

Inside the Human Body

Produced as an accompaniment to the linear "Inside the Human Body" programme, this is the fascinating story of how the production team behind the 4-part series brought together the latest scientific research and the most innovative computer technology to create never-before-seen worlds for this BBC One landmark series.

In the first episode 'Creation', the team reveal how they brought to life some extraordinary scientific revelations, including the spectacular ‘firework display’ that was set off at the moment of your conception, and how they used scans of a developing foetus to produce a unique animation which shows how your face self-assembled in the womb.

The second episode 'First to Last', shows how the team set about illustrating the magic moment when your heart first began to beat, just 3 weeks after conception, and how they had to apply some artistic licence so they could take the viewer on a journey inside the miniature world of your blood vessels.

In the next instalment 'Building Your Brain', it took months of scientific research to gather the information they needed to bring to life two of the most complex systems in the body: the workings of your middle ear and the complex and wondrous world of your retina.

And in the last of the series 'Hostile World', we discover how the recurring hero of the series, the phagocyte, was transformed from medical images into a realistic 3D character – culminating in a giant battle as it defends your body from invaders. Also, how the music for series brought drama and spectacle to events taking place on a microscopic level.
