Part ofIYKYK

Charles Dodgson, otherwise known as the author Lewis Carroll, was renowned for creating fantasy worlds occupied by absurd characters. His most famous works include The Hunting of the Snark, the poem Jabberwocky and perhaps his most enduring of all, the two 'Alice' novels;Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871).

Characters such as the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and Tweedledum and Tweedledee have become part of our culture. His nonsense words, including "chortle", "frabjous" and "gallumph", have found a life beyond his works.

But do you know which characters and plot points appear in each of the Alice books? Take our BBC Bitesize quiz and find out how much of an Alice expert you really are - good luck!
