fire
The woman had been in an upstairs bedroom
Four children lost their mother after she was killed in a house fire which police believe may have been started deliberately.

Sue Macdonald died in the fire in Broughton Astley in Leicestershire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Her fianc Rod Harris escaped by jumping from a first floor window and is recovering from a broken ankle at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Neighbours have said the couple had been planning to get married in a few weeks.

Search for clues

Firefighters were called out at a about 0040 GMT to Cookes Drive where the home was found to be well alight.

Investigators have searched the semi-detached house for clues and are calling on any witnesses to come forward.

Detective chief inspector Ken Kelly, of Leicestershire Police, said: "We are treating the fire as suspicious.

"I would urge anyone who was in the Cookes Drive area between midnight and 1am to think back.

"It may be that they have seen or heard something that may prove vital to our inquiries."
