The success and hype of the latest Harry Potter and James Bond films should ensure memorabilia from the movies fetch a high price at auction.

Props from some of the biggest movies are going under the hammer at a stage and screen sale hosted by Sotheby's in London.

There is also a host of music-related memorabilia for sale, including items from the Beatles, Elvis Presley and the Sex Pistols.

Batman's disguise is included in the sale

One lot is an acceptance letter addressed to Harry Potter from Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which is estimated to fetch up to �5,000.

A stuffed wild boar's head which was display in the school dining room in the first Potter film.

A Walther PPK pistol used in the Bond movies Licence to Kill and the Living Daylights is expected to fetch up to �15,000, while an Activation Key used in GoldenEye could go for as much as �3,000.

Star Trek fans could be in for a treat when a pair of Vulcan ears worn by Mr Spock in Star Trek IV.

There is also an original headpiece from the Batman movie, starring Michael Keaton.

The sale on 3 December also includes items from the world of rock'n'roll.

Star lot: A letter to Harry Potter inviting him to join Hogwarts School

There is the first known published photograph of John Lennon and Paul McCartney on stage as the Quarrymen at Liverpool's Casbah Club in 1959.

The photo, which first appeared in the West Derby Reporter, is being sold with copyright by promoter Sam Leach and is estimated to sell for between �7,000-�8,000.

Mr Leach was responsible for some of the band's most memorable concerts such as the dance event at the New Brighton Tower in 1961.

He also put on a gig at the Aldershot Palais ballroom which was attended by just 18 people.

One of the biggest music lots is the handwritten lyrics to John Lennon's Because from the Abbey Road album of 1969, which is expected to reach upwards of �25,000.

A gold record award for the album Elvis-Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite is estimated to reach from �4,500.

There will also be items from The Rolling Stones, Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan and Madonna.
