Blue Flags are awarded to only the best beaches |
Hornsea has been named one of Britain's top beaches after winning a Blue Flag award for the first time. Bridlington has also made the grade and Cleethorpes is celebrating after winning the award for the second year in a row.
Among the other winners in the region were Scarborough and Whitby.
Award judges look at lifesaving equipment, the standard of beach and clean seawater.
The Blue Flag is awarded by Environmental Campaigns (ENCAMS) for seaside resorts which are deemed to have met a set of standards.
Encams says Britain has the second most improved coastline in Europe, with the number of blue flags increasing by more than 600% in the last decade.
In the Yorkshire and Humber region two more beaches have been awarded the blue flag in comparison to last year.
